Introduction
Canadians have been painfully confronted with the fact that also some Canadians raised in Canada are receptive to EXTREMIST propaganda and manipulation. A number of them underwent a radicalization process and were successfully recruited for the ‘jihad against Canada’, with the ultimate prospect of martyrdom. This threat of radicalization is not unique to Canada, or the West, but is an issue facing a vast number of Muslim countries as well, both Arab and non-Arab alike.
These groups of youth who pose an imminent threat to progress and stability, were effectively radicalized over a period of time through a variety of factors, and in the last phase, mostly through the widely available internet based Al Qaeda propaganda. Similar to the Kharijites of Islamic history, these youth then 'broke away' FROM the mainstream body of Muslims and THEIR legal rulings, and chose to adopt EXTREMIST doctrines INSTEAD.
Details of the 2006 Toronto terrorism case revealed in court stated the plot was 'mimic' the September 11th attacks, as 'the Battle for Toronto', during which 'a three-day bombing assault aimed at shutting the downtown core, crippling the economy and killing civilians was planned'. The plot was to commence September 11th, 2006 and the destruction in Toronto was intended to make the 7th July 2005 London bombings look 'very small'.
Details revealed in court also found the youth involved in the Toronto terrorism case:
1. Were inspired by Al Qaeda propaganda while residing in Mississauga & the GREATER TORONTO AREA
2. Directly associated their group’s doctrines to those of Al Qaeda
3. Blamed Western democracies and ‘apostate’ Muslim regimes for killing Muslims
4. Advocated 'jihad' through the ‘slaying of disbelievers’ [Muslim and non-Muslims ALIKE]
5. Routinely handed out an unaccounted for amount of AL QAEDA CD’s and other Al Qaeda propaganda in the GTA intending to incite terrorism
6. Convicted AND SENTENCED FOR a designated terrorist offence
In response to the 2006 Toronto terrorism case, ASFC was established BY SAYYID AHMED AMIRUDDIN and incorporated in Canada as a registered non-profit organization to ASSIST Canadian MUSLIM COMMUNITIES counter the eminent threat of Al Qaeda inspired radicalization.
