The Image of the Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam)

Q. Please inform us of the tradition regarding the Mirror of Hadrat Maimuna (rad), the wife of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).

A. Imam’Allamah Mahmud al- Alusi Rehmatullahi ‘Alaih mentions in Tafsir Ruh al Ma’ani:

After the Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) had passed away the Companions, used to go to the House of his beloved wife Hadrat Maimuna (Radi Allahu anha), to look at a mirror utilized by the beloved Prophet Muhammad (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) that she had kept safely. In this mirror they did not see themselves but the image of the beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam).

The mirror had refused to let go of the image of the beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustafa Mujtaba (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam).
