the great blessings of Allah Almighty, the ASFC Delegation headed out for its
annual meeting with H.E. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Adil al Haqqani, the Grand Mufti
of Turkish Cyprus. ASFC Chairman Sayyid Ahmed Amiruddin first headed for Dubai,
and from there to Istanbul and then to Cyprus to meet his Grand Shaykh.
ASFC Director Sayyid Ibrahim Quadri first stopped in Istanbul to
visit the Sultan Ahmet Mosque and the tombs of some of the
Ottoman Caliphs and Sultans and from
there, traveled to Cyprus to meet Mawlana Shaykh Nazim for his first time.
H.E. Shaykh Nazim al Haqqani was extremely delighted to see ASFC Chairman Sayyid
Ahmed Amiruddin and made it a point to refer to him as his "Deputy" and "Shaykh
Ahmed Amiruddin" a number of times. Onlookers observed seeing H.E.
Mawlana's 'eyes light up' every time he saw Sayyid Ahmed up close.
Before seeing ASFC Chairman Sayyid Ahmed Amiruddin off on his India tour, H.E.
the Grand Mufti of Cyprus Shaykh Nazim al Haqqani told him, "Welcome, welcome to
you Shaykh Ahmed Amiruddin. Oh! I am happy
with you,
I am happy with you, you are always welcome here...give my Salam to all, pray for me".
Sayyid Ahmed Amiruddin commented on his Shaykh's remarks to him, "I am very happy
that my Shaykh is pleased with me. For those well acquainted with the
Sufis, for the Shaykh to say to his Murid (student), 'I am happy with you' is in
itself arguably the greatest accomplishment for the Murid".
Earlier, on the personal request of his Shaykh; Ahmed Amiruddin, ASFC Director
Sayyid Ibrahim Quadri was directly granted Ijazah (license) to conduct the
Naqshbandi Dhikr by H.E. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim in Toronto as well.
During his last private visit with Mawlana for this trip ASFC Director was also blessed by the Holy Shaykh and when
he presented a ring given to him
by ASFC Chairman Sayyid Ahmed Amiruddin, saying it belonged to Ahmed Amiruddin
and he gifted it to him before leaving for India, H.E. Mawlana Shaykh
Nazim took the ring and kissed it and prayed over it then handed it back to him,
thus blessing him and his family and friends.
The duration of the ASFC
Chairman's tour to India was not specified, but he said, "although I am not
happy with the general condition of the Muslim community in Canada, it is the
wish of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) for me
to return to care for the Canadian Murids as well".
The ASFC congratulates Chairman
Sayyid Ahmed Amiruddin on his positive trip and prays for his safety and
success.
